Just thought I'd add a quick blog entry showing how the petunias are faring - half of the London Vegetable Garden is currently awash with colour thanks to these bedding plants. I highly recommend keeping your eyes open in supermarkets or garden centres for some bedding petunias. In the space of a few weeks they've grown spectacularly and make a real impact to any balcony or garden. You could even pot them on a windowsill.
One man's mission to show England that anyone can grow vegetables, no matter how small the space they have to work with. Welcome to the London Vegetable Garden.

I love the colors on those!
ReplyDeleteHi Sue,
ReplyDeleteThese have grown SO quickly since bedding in! They really are the most beautiful shades of pinks and purples - brightens up the London Vegetable Garden no end!
My wife also bought a tray of Petunias some weeks ago when I asked her to get me some Busy Lizzies. When she gave me them I didn't know what to do with them at first! Then it occurred to me to put them in the clay pots I have in rings on the balcony railings! I have 9 pots & at first I started to put 2 in a pot but they didn't fill it so I added a 3rd & the pots looked much better. That left me needing 7 more plants! (20 in tray) A couple of days later I bought another tray & finished planting the remaining pots. Now they are flowering nicely & can only get better.
